Notice under The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012

Not before 22 July 2021, the County Council’s Director of Adult Social Care will consider the following item: East Sussex Domestic Abuse Refuge Service Commission.

The purpose of the item is:

A decision is being made as to the provision of a contract for domestic abuse refuges within East Sussex. It contains an increase in value on the current contract to allow for an increase in refuge spaces to meet new legal duties. The provider will be expected to meet all relevant duties within the Domestic Abuse Act. Contract runs for five years, with provision for an additional five years.

Under the requirements of Regulation 9 of The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 the Council is required to give 28 days notice of a key decision identified within the scope of these regulations. It is considered that item referred to above would be a key decision and for the reasons of urgency outlined below, compliance is considered impracticable, and an exception to Regulation 9 is therefore sought under Regulation 10 of the above Regulations. It is considered impracticable to comply with the requirements of The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 because:

To allow for the timely and smooth implementation of extended Domestic Abuse refuge provision within East Sussex a decision is required before the end of July 2021.

Accordingly a copy of this notice shall be available pursuant to Regulation 5(6) for at least 5 clear days prior to 22 Jul 2021.
